Dr. Juan Álvarez-Linera Prado is a leading neuroradiologist nationally and internationally and an epilepsy specialist at HT Médica. His career is distinguished by his leadership in introducing advanced neuroimaging in Spain, clinical research, teaching and the training of specialists in advanced magnetic resonance imaging, brain tumors and neurodegenerative diseases.
He holds a doctorate in Neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is a member of the European Board in Neuroradiology. He completed specialist training in neuroradiology, MR angiography and pediatric epilepsy at prestigious centers such as the University of Columbus, the University of Wisconsin and San Francisco. He was a pioneer in Spain, establishing the country’s first 3-tesla MRI system and developing the PET-MRI fusion technique for diagnosing focal epilepsy, and also headed the Neuroimaging Unit at the Queen Sofía Foundation Alzheimer Center.
With more than 100 clinical trials to his name, a registered patent and authorship of two books in the specialty, he founded and directed the National Neuroradiology Course for a decade. His significant scientific and research contribution has been recognized through his appointment as an Honorary Member of the Spanish Society of Neuroradiology (SENR), the Aesculap Award from the European Neurosurgery Society and the Rafael Hervada Award, among other distinctions.
