Dr. Javier Blázquez Sánchez is Head of the Department of Radiology at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal in Madrid, a position he has held since 2010. His professional career has been particularly focused on vascular and interventional radiology, an area in which he developed much of his early clinical practice at the hospital.
He trained as a radiologist at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal after graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Salamanca. Throughout his career, he has combined clinical practice with team leadership, teaching and the development of innovation projects in diagnostic imaging.
He is currently actively involved in initiatives related to technological innovation, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering and process optimization in Radiology. He also represents the hospital in the UPM–Ramón y Cajal Chair for Innovation in Healthcare Processes and Technologies.
