Gorka Bastarrika holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra, where he also completed his residency in Radiology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
He pursued advanced training in cardiothoracic imaging at internationally renowned institutions, including Klinikum Grosshadern and St. Johannes Hospital in Germany, and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He subsequently completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (USA).
During his professional career, he worked in the Thoracic Radiology Section and served as Director of the Cardiac Imaging Unit at Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and served as Head of the Cardiac MRI Section within the Cardiothoracic Imaging Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada.
He is currently Co-Director of the Radiology Department at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and Full Professor at the University of Navarra.
