Trayectoria profesional

Dr. Javier Sánchez-González is a physicist and specialist in magnetic resonance imaging, with extensive experience in MR acquisition, reconstruction, quantitative imaging and advanced cardiovascular MRI. He graduated in Physics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD focused on magnetic resonance spectroscopy quantification and parallel imaging at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

He began his research career at the Medical Imaging Laboratory of Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón, initially working on magnetic resonance spectroscopy and later, during his postdoctoral period, on PET image reconstruction and MR signal modelling. In 2007, he joined Philips as the first MR Clinical Scientist for the Iberian region and subsequently assumed increasing responsibilities in clinical science across Southern Europe.

His scientific work has focused particularly on the development and clinical translation of advanced MRI techniques, with a major emphasis over the last 15 years on cardiovascular magnetic resonance. His research includes accelerated and quantitative MRI, cardiac tissue characterization, myocardial perfusion and the development of time-efficient three-dimensional cardiovascular MRI protocols. He has contributed to more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, has an h-index of approximately 40, is co-inventor on two international patents and has supervised three doctoral theses.
